Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 900 -- DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING FUND

SPONSOR: Shields (Moore)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Health Care Policy by a vote of 9 to 0.

This bill changes the laws regarding the Missouri Commission for
the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Fund by removing the requirement
that certain money in the fund will revert to the credit of the
General Revenue Fund.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say it is hard to solicit gifts and funds
from the federal government and private donors when it is known
that the money will not stay in the fund but revert to general
revenue at the end of each fiscal year.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Shields; and Missouri
Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
